Midwest Writers Conference
It’s coming up October 6-8 2017!
Hey everyone, just letting you know – it’s time to start saving for the Midwest Writers Conference. It’s not been around as long as some but it’s building every year and this year they have some amazing guests (besides me *wink*).
I’m honored to be a Featured Guest speaker at the Midwest Writers Conference this year. I have a secret – thought most know me as a bestselling author – most don’t know I was an Acquisition Editor for awhile, and because of that I’ll be talking about How to catch the editors eye with your first paragraph. This will be an interactive class. Authors are being asked to bring the first pages of your manuscripts, so I can pick a few to look it over and use as demos in giving tips.
I will also be speaking about The importance of creating great secondary characters: Building your supporting cast, along with my bestselling author friend, scifi writer Kayelle Allen. She’ll also be speaking about Creating your series bible: Keeping characters straight and organization.
Our sexy RT model of the year (five years in a row) and actor John Joseph Quinlan will be there to spice things up with all the ladies. And erotic and romance author Dana Littlejohn will be there as well.
And there is an amazing opportunity to meet Dee Owens from Personalized Marketing Inc– who will be talking about Real Marketing in the Digital World: Social Networking Insanity, Figuring Out The Different Social Networks, Why Social Networking and Search Engine Optimization Go Together and Ways To Reach Readers
Tina Gayle– Taking your newsletter nuclear: How to take your newsletter to greater heights. Signing up with Mailchimp, creating a sample book, joining instafreebie and creating a campaign, and film maker Jillian Bullock, will be teaching you How to turn your book into a screenplay: The process, the difference between writing a novel and a screenplay, the formatting, three act structure, and more.
Kathy Higgs-Coulthard–Know what you’re talking about before you write: The importance of doing your research.
Marteeka Karland–The dos and don’ts of self editing: Getting your story as clean as possible before submission.
Sylvia Hubbard– will be the lunch time keynote speaker!
So mark it on your calendar to check it out @ Midwest Writers Conference 2017
